Please pray for the Chapman Family...

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN,
DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Thursday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife Mary Beth founded The Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles.

The Power of Prayer

This past Sunday, our church began "100 days of prayer". We have pledged to pray 10 minutes a day everyday. For our church, our country, each other. In addition our Pastor, Pastor Joseph (what a great guy, by the way) had us start "Prayer Triplets". That is, three members of the congregation, preferably those who don't know each other very well, getting together once a week for 30 minutes to pray and share and dig deeper into each other lives. I, as an Elder, am leading one of these starting tonight. I covet your prayers for this, so I can be an example to my prayer partners.

Exciting, huh?

Scary too...

Most of us have this "filter" where we selectively lets bits and pieces out for others to see. But some things, for whatever reason, we can't or won't share and are kept on the other side. You hear the term "transparent" kicked around alot in the church. "Oh, he/she is so transparent!" But what does that really mean? I think true transparency is letting everything show. The good, the bad, the ugly... That is rare in everyday life. It might be a stretch to think we can be like that to everybody. But for God? Yes. In your prayers to the Holy One? Yes.

How is your prayer life? Are you being "transparent" to the One who matters?

Blessings,

40 days in the wilderness...

Well, the season of Lent is upon us. Had a great Ash Wednesday service yesterday at our church. This is a season of repentence, reflection and renewal. It's also a season a sacrifices. My wife and I have decided to join a group of individuals in our church who are fasting for forty days. I say this not to boast, but to ask for your prayers for the strength and willpower it will take for my wife and I during this journey. Beyond the obvious side-effects (hopefully weight-loss) this will be a cleansing of the soul and time for a deeper relationship with God. They say the first few days of this will be the hardest. I'll try to keep you posted.

What have you chosen to relenquish for the Lord? I'd love to hear from you.

I Guess We Should Start This Thing...

Well I had a REALLY fun time subbing for the ill Terry Lee this morning. Like I said on-air, I hope I didn't ruin the show too bad for him. I always have fun working with Suzie AND I didn't fall asleep (you see, skate night was last night and I was there too and morning came quickly and well, you know...)

Another child has a loving partner through Compassion this morning. Thank you. You can see pictures of the children right here on our website; just click on the Compassion banner. Be warned! Your heart WILL melt.

Oh, and the bubble wrap thing. Pop virtual bubble wrap to your heart's content at http://www.virtual-bubblewrap.com/ !

Another addicting thing is this blogging. I'll have to try more tomorrow. See ya!
